Civil litigation is, in general, a dispute between private individuals, including corporations and other entities, as opposed to a crime which involves charges by a government not involving a crime. It includes matters as varied as contracts, Personal Injury, Product Liability and traffic accidents. The litigants may be individuals or businesses. Civil litigation involves the presentation of such disputes to the courts or within Arbitration. Depending upon the matter, this may involve discovery, briefing of legal issues, filing of motions and trial before a judge or jury.
